Ceremonial procession for the Fiesta de San Esteban, Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, 1886
Photograph (blurred) of a procession of dancers and singers at Fiesta de San Esteban (Saint Stephen), Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, 1886. About a dozen dancers (left) wear traditional garb and dance before the kisi (located in the midst of the tree branches and bushes). A small crowd of onlookers (right) stand across the dirt road near the three-story adobe buildings of the pueblo. Ladders can be seen leaning against the exterior of the cube-shaped buildings of the pueblo in the background.
