Ceremony of the fiesta de San Esteban, Acoma Pueblo, 1886
Photograph of a ceremony of the fiesta de San Esteban, Acoma Pueblo, 1886. A procession of about a dozen Acoma Indians can be seen dancing in front of the kisi. They are wearing traditional garments including elaborate headpieces. They carry goards[?] in their hands as they walk in a procession. The kisi is located in the cluster of trees and bushes at right. The building behind the dancers is made of adobe and wood. The rafter tails are exposed. A ladder leans against the building which is pierced with two windows. Several onlookers observe from the roof of the building. The processing is walking to the left.
