it is not at all a tiresome study.Of course botany books in general are apt to be dulland dry and alarming. They frighten one by callingthings names. For instance, they talk about Systemsand Classes; and when you begin with Class I.,Dicotyledones, they expect you to learn that thisclass has four sub-classes, namely : (i) Thalamifiorce,(2) CalyciflorcB, (3) CorolliflorcB, (4) Monochlamydecz, andso on through twenty different classes; all with heavenknows how many sub-classes. Now I dont think that is at all the way to begin,and that is not my botany. But I do want you tolearn my botany, which is amusing, and is quite simpleand easy. Botany means classification of plants ; andwhen you know my sort of botany, then some day youwill very likely want to learn botanists botany, but Idont think it is any use to you just now.
