Description
English: Full-length portrait of a man in uniform, sitting with a sword. "Christian Hoffmeister 1st Lt Co K. 2 Infty Mo Vols Gift of Mrs. Elizabeth Grafe July 1929." (written on reverse side of image). Lt. Hoffmeister was a member of companies C, B, and K of the 2nd Missouri Volunteer Infantry, US (Hewitt 1998: 372). His regiment fought at Pea Ridge, Perryville, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Stone's River, Missionary Ridge, and the Atlanta campaign (The Union Army vol. IV, 1998: 257).
