Ofcourse, the strictest military precautionswill be taken for guarding the processionalong the route, but even with all therigid formalities observed, the sight willbe a memorable one. Four or five daysbefore the coronation, the entry will takeplace, and the cavalcade will doubtless beseveral miles in extent, and guarded oneither side by rows of military, as it passesthrough the gayly decorated streets on itsway to the Kremlin. Following these were the royalcoaches, the first containing the Empressand one of her children, and the othersconveying numerous princes and princess-es, grand duchesses and honorable dames.Then more troops and masses of brilliantuniforms, the whole walled in by shout-ing, enthusiastic crowds, and moving tothe clanging of bells and the booming ofcannon. Unless all signs fail, the display at thecoronation of Nicholas will greatly eclipsethat of his father thirteen years ago. Notonly will the military pageant be on agrander scale, but the spectacle at the fa-mous old palace of the Kremlin will bemagnificent. Half a million lanterns willmake the building and surroundings asbright as day, and 14.000 electriclights will make the tower con-spicuous and dazzling.
