EQUIVALEOT PHO^TERBSAnother of the tests used was the Equivalent ProverbsTest, This test was given in three parts, each consisting of aseries of Trell-knovm English proverbs and a series of African orArabian proverbs, arranged in parallel columns. The task was tofind for each English proverb the equivalent proverb in the otherlist. In some respects this test is similar to Eonsers reasoningtests. In that it may be said to test ability in seeing relation-ships in verbal expressions. Each of the thiree parts wss givenseparately to all the rooms at practically the same tim.e, and wasscored by dividing the time in seconds required to finish it by
