Bridgeman, R.K, and his maternal grandmother LadyElizabeth Moncreiffe/5 He was educated first at Hall Place,Beaconsfield, under the Rev. William Bradford,4 and then atHarrow under Dr. Longley, afterwards Archbishop of Canterbury,his house master at the Grove being the famous classical scholar 1 There is a full length portrait of Lady Mary Windsor-dive in the possessionof her son, Lord Windsor, at Oakly Park. 2 Besides miniatures of this Lord Bradford and of his first wife, there aremarble busts of both of them at Weston ; and two portraits of the former, both bySir George Ilajter. There is another portrait of him, taken much later in life, inthe possession of Col. the Hon. Francis Bridgeman. 3 Lucy Countess of Bradfords Family Bible. 4 There is a print of Mr. Bradfords house at Beaconsfield, engraved from asketch taken on the spot by Lord Newport himself.

WESTON-UNDER-LIZARD, IN TILE COUNTY OF STAFFORD. 280 Dr. Kennedy, afterwards .Regius Professor of Greek at theUniversity of Cambridge; from Harrow Lord Newport went toTrinity College, Cambridge, where lie graduated as M.A. in 1840.1He, was returned on o March 1842 as M.P. for South Shropshire;2for which constituency he continued to sit till he was called to theUpper Mouse on his fathers death in 1865. As Viscount Newporthe was Vice-Chamberlain of Her Majestys Household during theEarl of Derbys first ministry in 1852 (in which year he wassworn of the Privy Council), and again from 1858 to 1850;in 1866, as Earl of lhadford, he became Lord Chamberlain,which office he held till 1868; during the Karl of Beaconslieldspremiership from 1874 to 1880 he was Master of the Horse, andhe occupied the same post under the Marquis of Salisbury from1885 to 1880. In 1875 he was appointed Lord Lieutenant andCustos Kotulorum of the county of Salop, a position which heresigned in 1.893, his place being tak
