Description
English: Convalescent soldiers watching a billiard game in a recreation hut on the Western Front. Recreation huts like this one were provided by the Red Cross to keep convalescent soldiers occupied before they were either sent back to the Front, or sent home.

The Red Cross and other nursing bodies not only dealt with men wounded on the Front, but also with those who got influenza and other illnesses.
