Description
English: Copper-alloy nail cleaner of Roman date. The shaft of this nail cleaner has a length of 29.03mm, maximum width of 10.61mm narrowing to 3.79mm and is 1.33mm thick. The loop is in the same plane as the shaft. The loop consists of a circular perforation of 2.69mm diameter set within a trapezoidal plate measuring: maximum width 6.62mm, length 6.32, thickness 0.71mm. Between the attachment loop and shaft the artefact narrows to form a collar formed of moulded transverse grooves and raised ribs that has a width of 3.76mm and thickens to 3.55mm. The nail cleaner weighs 2.97g, and has a total length of 42.05mm. A single faint marginal groove parallels the edge of the shaft on both sides, set in from the edge by 0.68mm.
