Title
Copper alloy dragonesque brooch
Description
English: A small copper-alloy Dragonesque brooch dating to the first to second centuries AD. The brooch consists of a flat, S shaped plate. The plate is decorated with a central, circular moulded boss. Moulded ribs emanate from the central boss. The head terminal is joined to the body by a small extension. The 'ear' of each terminal is decorated with two L shaped grooves. The pin is intact and is looped around the neck of the brooch. The pin is rectangular in section where it is looped, but as it tapers it becomes circular in section. At the loop end, the pin has a central vertical groove. The pin has been bent into a arc. The brooch measures 33mm in length and 15mm in width.
