Copper alloy single looped buckle dating to 13th/14th century AD.
Description
English: Copper alloy single looped 'D' shaped buckle frame probably dating to the 13th/14th century AD. The frame has a notched lip and is attached to the remains of the sheet metal buckle plate. The pin is broken with part of the attachment remaining. The buckle is well maede with the remains of a narrow offset strap bar. The buckle was possibly for a dagger belt and is similar to an example in Whitehead, R. Buckles, no 76 p. 21. The length is 25mm, width 20mm. thickness 2mm and the weight is 4.94g.
