Notes Pair of souvenir cuff links marked C.A. 'FAENZA' acquired by 423170 Private Ralph Turner, 21st Infantry Battalion, while in Italy during WW2. Ralph Turner, farmhand of Wayby (near Wellsford), enlisted in 1942 (9th Roll Embarkations) and served with the 21st Infantry Battalion in North Africa and Italy. He carried his 'trench kit' with him everywhere and "when there was nothing to do made his souvenir "stuff - it was how they kept their sanity". He gave pieces that he had made as gifts to women (in Italy) or swapped pieces for rations.
