In Italy trackless trolley lines are very highlyregarded, a total of more than 50 miles of line being operated to theentire satisfaction of the municipalities. In some cities subsidiesare even paid for establishing such lines. A special system has beendeveloped called the Filovia System, which differs from the othersdescribed in that, as a collector, a four-wheeled truck runs under-neath the wires, held in place by a trolley pole in the usual maimer.The possible deviation on either side of the direct route is 10 feet.The cars are usually equipped with two 15-horsepower motors andhave a carrying capacity of 20 to 24 passengers. 399
