Circuit breakers, however, are most commonly usedon cars having controllers located at only one end in amotormanscab. A typical automatic circuit breaker is illustrated in Fig. 124,Fuses. A fuse is placed in series with the motor circuit betweenthe trolley and the controller wiring. When circuit breakers are usedinstead of canopy switches, the fuse-box may sometimes be dispensed 226 ELECTRIC RAILWAYS 131 with. The fuse-box on street cars is usually located underneath oneside of the car body where it is accessible for replacing fuses, butwhen a motormans cab is used, the fuse may be placed in the cab.
