D2AAA0. Early medieval buckle frame.
Description
English: Copper alloy buckle frame. An elongated D-shaped, single loop buckle frame. The pin is missing. The sides and outer edge of the frame are cast with Urnes style decoration. This comprises an asymmetrical design of interwoven sinuous interwoven beasts.The back is undecorated and slightly concave. The bar is slightly off-set from the frame and has a rectangular cross section. Dating from the late early medieval period, the second half of the 11th century (identified by Dr Kevin Leahy).
