Title
DRESS HOOK
Description
English:

A post-medieval copper alloy one-piece dress hook dating from about AD1550-1700. The dress hook is of Read's Class E, Type 3.
The attachment loop is trapezoidal in plan and bevelled on the front. The main body of the hook is a sub-circular plate, almost heart shaped. The front has moulded decoration which is corroded, but is perhaps a flower (a rose?) or a face. There is a trefoil shaped collar at the point between the apex of the heart shaped plate and the top of the hook.

Compare Read 2008: page 96, numbers 354 - 355.

A parallel was recorded under SWYOR-55349D.
