Interrupted transformer adapted fof use in the dental x-ray laboratory. X-RAY MACHINES 63 converter is set in motion and generates an al-ternating current which is sent through the pri-mary of the step-up transformer. This induces acurrent in the secondary of the proper voltage,but alternating in character. The rectifyingswitch then changes this current from an alter-nating to a direct current and as such it is de-livered to the terminals of the tube. The alternating current machine differs onlyfrom the direct current machine in that the alter-nating current is run directly into the primaryof the step-up transformer. This induces a cur-rent in the secondary of proper voltage but al-ternating in character. The rectifying switchthen changes this high voltage alternating cur-rent to a direct current, and as such it is carriedto the terminals of the tube.
