Woodbury Co. photo) MADONNA AND CHILD (National Gallery PAINTERS AND ENGRAVERS. Florence about 1620, was a pupil of Furini. Thougheminent in his day, little is known of his history;he is supposed to have died in 1676. SANTOS CRUZ, a Spanish painter, who workedon the high altar of Avila cathedral, with PedroBerruguete, from 1475 to 1499. SANTOS, Juan, a fresco painter, flourished atCadiz in 1662. He was much employed in paint-ing standards for the Spanish navy. It is alsorecorded that he painted little pictures to pleasecertain ladies of Andalusia, which may occasionallybe found in very private cabinets. SANTO ZAGO, or ZASO. See Zago. SANTVOORT, Dirk van, supposed to be theeon of Anthonis Santvoort, an obscure engraver,painted history portraits somewhat in the manner ofRembrandt. lie was practising in 1635 ; there areprints after him by Jonas Suyderhoef and TheodoreMatham.
