34. WEYDE, Julius, genre painter, was born atBerlin in 1822, and first studied at the Academythere. He afterwards became a pupil of Venne-man at Antwerp and of Delaroche in Paris. In1848 he settled in Berlin, and became well knownby his scenes from bourgeois life. He died nearStettin in 1869. WEYDEN, Roger van deb (or Weyde). SeeVan der Weyden. WEYDMANS (or Weydeman). See Weijdmans. WEYDMULLER, Johanna Elisabeth, nteKroger, was born at Sorau in 1725. She was herfathers pupil, and became a clever painter offlowers, fruit, and portraits upon glass. She taughtdrawing to the Saxon Royal family, and diedin 1807. WEYER, Gabriel, a German painter, etcher,and wood engraver, was born at Nuremburg aboutthe year 1580, and was one of the most productiveworkers of his time. He painted historical andallegorical pictures, and made many designs forthe engravers. WEYER, Jakob Mathias, (or Johann Mathias,)was born at Hamburg at the beginning of the 17thcentury, and was a pupil of J. A. Decker, underwhom he painted horses and battles. He after-wards studied under Wouwerman. He chieflyproduced landscapes with rustic figures and skir-mishes. He died about 1690.
