26 Polygonaceae. (Dammer.) Skantig, glatt, mit meist derber Fruchtschale. E. excentrisch oder seitlich, mehr oder minder einwärts gekrümmt. Keimb. schmal, nicht gefaltet.—-Kräuter, seltener an der Basis verholzende Halbsträucher von außerordentlich verschiedenem Habitus. Bald sehr dünnzweigig, niedrig, niedergestreckt, bisweilen schachtelhalmartig, bald hoch, dick, fleischig, bald auch schlingend. B. abwechselnd, bald schmal lineal, klein, schnell abfallend, bald groß, breit, saftig, selten fiederspaltig, meist ganzrandig, nackt oder mehr oder minder stark bis silberweiß behaart, stets mit einer Ochrea, welche bald dick fleischig, bald dünn trockenhäutig, ganzrandig oder regelmäßig gezähnt oder gewimpert
