Boy, Aged Four and One-half Years; Weight, Thirty-threeand One-half Pounds, Frequent Attacks of Vomiting. PalpableTumor at Pylorus. There is constant irregularity in the outline of the pylorus, and uponpalpation under fluoroscopic observation there is partial fixation as well aspalpable thickening. At six hours there is almost complete retention ofthe barium meal in the stomach. In the erect posture the stomach does notempty. When the patient lies on the right side, the bariuni meal leaves thestomach in a very small stream. Stomach dilated. PYLOROSPASM 303 are much milder than those of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, thereis a marked contrast between vomiting due to spasm of the pylorusand habitual vomiting. In the latter condition the child does notsuffer from loss of nourishment, the stools are normal in size andnumber, and the vomiting, never projectile, can be attributed to acertain extent to conditions outside the stomach.
