In all trans-verse sections of the corpora quadrigemina the red nucleus may be recognizedas a round red structure, lying dorsally from the aqueduct of Sylvius andnear the median line; in this structure generally terminates the brachiumconjunctivum which comes from the cerebellum and has just crossed it. Be-tween the two red nuclei are the nuclei and fiber bundles of the third cranialnerve, the oculomotor, the exit of which at the base of the brain will be laterdescribed, and behind it are the nuclei of the trochlear nerve.
