Description |
English: Sub-rectangular double-loop buckle with moulded lion's head and mane motif at either end forming a trapezoidal frame. Gently convex in profile. Semi-circular facets along outer edge of frame. Traces of gilding on upper surface. Clothing fasteners with similar lion's head motifs were recovered from the wreck of HMS Innocence and are on display at Portsmouth Historic Ship Yard. This example may also have naval connections. |
