Description |
English: A post medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle, dating to AD 1550-1650. The buckle is formed of two symmetrical D shaped loops. The frame has a trapezoidal cross section. The centre bar is narrowed from the frame with a pointed knop at either end and has a trapezoidal cross section. The outer edges of both loops are knopped and decorated with a moulded sexfoil motif. The surfaces retain a black coating. The rear is undecorated. Reference: Whitehead (1996, 66 ref 407) |
