Format: Daguerreotype (ninth plate daguerreotype in Wharton case)

Notes: Dr William Bland, an ex-convict, was a prominent surgeon, humanitarian, social reformer and inventor. This daguerreotype is the earliest known surviving photograph taken in Australia. It is probably that mentioned in the Sydney Morning Herald 14/1/1845, p.2, top column 5
