Title
Dragonesque brooch
Description
English: A fragment of a copper-alloy dragonesque brooch dating from the mid first to late second century. Only the central body part of the brooch survives. It is 26.7mm in length, 15.9mm wide and 3.2mm thick. It weighs 4.32gm. The brooch is very corroded, but some traces of blue enamel survive. Dragonesque brooches are discussed in Snape’s Roman Brooches from Northern Britain. They are believed to originate in the North of England.
