One of the best fall and winter varieties, a favorite with the market gardeners; bright rose-color, flesh white, firm, and superior quality. (See illustration.).. 5 10 i 00 California White Winter. A mammoth variety, growing 12 inches long, white-fleshed, firm, and of excellent quality 5 ^5 ^ 25 The above five varieties are best for winter ase, keeping firm and crisp until spring. Long Black Spanish Wbtter Radish. 32 DREERS GARDEN CALENDAR. RHUBARB. Rhabarher, Ger. Rhubarbe, Fr. Ruibarbo Bastardo, SpAN. The stalks of this pbnt are used for pies and tarts. It is fit for use before green fruit appears, and is an excellentsubstitute. Sow in April, in drills i foot apart; when 3 or 4 inches high, thin out in the rows to 10 inches apart,and transplant the ensuing autumn or spring to any desired situation, in a deep, rich soil. To grow the stalks toperfection, the ground must be dug and heavily manured, at least 2 feet deep. Set out the roots 3 feet aparteach way, and the following spring it will be fit for use In the fall
