English: Cream wedding dress, c 1890, worn by donor's mother.". Two piece. .1 Jacket - brocaded satin front and high collar; sleeves and back of ottoman silk. Brocade cuff on sleeves. Waist and sleeve edges corded. Embroidered lace trim on font. .2 Skirt - trained. Train of ottoman silk front brocaded satin with lace trim down left side. “WEDDING DRESS (Ridings) Two piece in cream-coloured silk-wool mixture fine ribbed and silk damask front panels etc. Bodice tight-fitting – front-fastening with overlap front panel in damask edged with decorated gauze flounces. Back V cut – tight and short waist line finished with tabs. Very high collar in damask. Sleeves puffed at shoulders and lower arm filled with damask cuffs. All lined and boned. Skirt gored and slightly shaped at front with asymmetrical (sic) damask front panel edged with gauze flounce. Very full back pleating to fall in separate train, padded at hem and lined with net frill. All heavily lined. Maker Brown Ewing Dunedin.”
