Description
English: Woman's dress of typical mid 1920s styling incorporating typical features such as- knee length; dropped waistline; sleeveless; scoop neckline; 'straight' style. The dress formed of two layers of fabric, the inner of cream silk chiffon, with overlayer of cream silk net decoratively (machine-stitched) with loosely spaced stylised floral motifs worked in thick black thread; the bodice featuring a deep v-neck open to dropped waist formed from the outer layer exposing a layer of cream chiffon over an inserted rectangular lower panel which features vertical rows of machined drawn-thread work; the dropped waistline gathering covered with a flat bias cut black silk belt (30mm wide) held in place with intermittent stitches; the skirt featuring a separate centre front panel (230mm wide) of the net fabric; the neck and chiffon layer of sleeve edges bound in bias cut black silk; the sleeve edges of the net fabric bound with its own self (machine-stitched) border; the hem of the chiffon layer (machine) finished; the outer layer with self (machine-stitched) border.
