Description
English: Street dress made for Mrs. Mackie in 1900 by her daughter Eva black satin two piece; bodice pin tucked all over, black bead trim; high collar, frilled edge; long sleeves; black velvet bows and loops across front of bodice; skirt, plain black satin with beaded trim at waist; narrow black velvet trim round hem (col and card) J Smith- Black satin dress (two piece). Bodice tight fitting high waisted – satin with fine tucks all over front with panel of silk cross-straps of velvet. Very high stitched collar – beaded passementerie – full length sleeves with small frill at cuff. Fully lined and boned. Skirt five gored. Very small waist. Shaped over hips – one pleat at back of waist to give extra fullness at the back and small train – four additional pleats at knee level each held with bead appliqué – fully lined – velvet hem trim.
