Description
English: A complete cast copper-alloy two-piece wire dress hook of the Early Post-Medieval period dating from c.15th to 17th century.

Description: The dress hook is formed of two pieces of copper-alloy wire bent together into a 'reef knot' forming an oval attachment-loop with the end of one wire forming the hook. The second wire is bent around the hooked wire. The dress hook does not contain any decoration. There is slight evidence of abrasion along right side of the reverse. The colour is dark brown around the whole of the dress hook except for the right edge of the reverse side where the colour is lighter.

Measurements: Length 28.66mm X Width 17.03mm X Thickness 10.33mm (1.55mm band) X Weight 1.75g

Discussion: Other similar examples of this type are illustrated by Read, which he classifies as Class C, Type 1 (2008, 142).
