Description |
English: A fragment of a cast copper alloy buckle pin of Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date (c. AD 450 – c. AD 600). Length: 17.3mm; width: 6.4mm and 5.5mm thick. Weight: 3.04g.
The fragment is the tip and small portion of the shank. The shank is circular in cross-section and has a diameter of 5.9mm. It expands and becomes sub-oval in cross-section towards the undercut tip. This pin has been subject to intense burning and the surfaces are pitted. A small area of the undercut has a shiny mid-green patina. |
