Early-Medieval Sceat - Bird on Cross and Head Right
Description
English: A silver sceat of Early-Medieval date, c.AD.680-c.AD.760. This coin fits into the main group of birds and sub-group I. The obverse shows a diademed head right with crescent ear and angular nose set within a double beaded border. The reverse shows a feathered bird right, sat upon a cross with annulets on the limbs of the cross and a trefoil of pellets below the limbs, set within a tripple beaded border. See Abramson, T. 2006, Sceattas An Illustrated Guide, p.50. Series BIIIC - B550.
