English: A worn, cast copper-alloy buckle frame of possible later Early-Medieval to Medieval date. It is missing its pin due to old breaks. the frame is roughly pentagonal in form, rectangular in section and with a narrowed bar. At each corner and at the centre of the outer edge are teh remains of projecting globular knops. It measures 18.89mm in width, 15.51mm in length, 3.01mm in thickness and 1.92g in weight.

The precise date range of this buckle remains uncertain. Similar larger examples but with flattened frame (e.g Margeson, 1993: no. 128) are dated broadly to the 11th-13th centuries AD, but differ not only in terms of the flattened frame but also the decorative elements. It is likely that the current example is of similar date, perhaps in the 12th-13th centuries AD, although an earlier date range at the end of the Early-Medieval cannot be ruled out.
