Title
Early-medieval small oval buckle frame
Description
English: D-shaped buckle frame; undecorated, circular in cross-section, thickens towards outer edge, slight step at inner edge where the pin bar is narrowed.

This type of small simple buckle frame is occasionally found in fifth- or sixth-century graves, but is very much more common in seventh-century graves. The style then appears to go out of use, although this may be due more to the fact that buckles were no longer being deposited in furnished graves than to them no longer being used.
