Title
Early Medieval Buckle
Description
English: Copper alloy Buckle. Cast D shaped buckle frame with a thickened and expanded outer edge and a narrowed strap bar grasped by beast head terminals with triangular eyes or ears in relief and their jaws strongly modelled, conferring a reptilian appearance. These features appear on both sides of the frame. Abraded. The zoomorphic decoration nods to Danelaw tastes. Suggested date: Early Medieval to Medieval, 1000-1100.

Length: 17.3mm, Height: 17.6mm, Thickness: 5.6mm, Weight: 5.16gms.
