Early Medieval Hooked Tag
Description
English: A sheet copper-alloy, triangular, single-sharp-hooked clasp of Early Medieval date, c. 7th to early 12th century, Read class A, Type 1. The triangular body of the clasp has a border of a double row of punched ovals with a central cross, also made up of double rows of punched ovals. The reverse is undecorated. There are two, drilled, attachment holes at the corners of the wide edge of the plate, the plate then tapering towards the backward-facing hook. The plate narrows further at the point where it meets the hook, to form a shoulder at either side.
