Title |
Early Medieval buckle |
||
Description |
English: Late Saxon D-shaped buckle frame with an incomplete iron pin and punched ring-and-dots over all the front face apart from the bar. There is a small lobe at both ends of the bar and at the junctions of the sides and outside edge, while a triple projection decorates the centre of the outside edge. This class of buckle is fairly frequently encountered in Norfolk. A similar but larger example was excavated in Norwich, and a more similar but smaller one was found in West Walton. 26 – 30.5mm. 10th–11th century. |
