Title
Early Medieval finger ring
Description
English: A copper-alloy object, probabl a fragment of finger-ring of late Anglo-Saxon date. It consists of a solid copper-alloy hoop which has a flattened oval cross-section and tapers to a point at one end. The object is broken approximately half way along its widest part with the remaining half missing. It would originally have had two, opposing, pointed terminals that overlapped to form the hoop of the ring. This is similar to another finger ring found at the same site (PUBLIC-5CAAA2).

Similar finger-rings have been published by A. Goodall in Rogerson and Dallas 1984, fig. 110, one (no. 19) well sealed in a context of 10th or 11th-century date.
