Title |
early Post Medieval copper alloy thimble |
||
Description |
English: Post Medieval copper alloy thimble dates to between c1500 and c1550 AD. The thimble had a comparatively flat crown. It has a spiral pattern of hand stamped indentations on the sides and crown, with a plain band around the base. The thimble has been squashed but is almost complete. The only missing section is the majority of the folded over part of the band so that for the majority of its circumference it is now only one layer of metal thick.
Length is 23mm, width 29mm, depth 12mm, and the weight 3.48g. See also KENT-397D73 (very similar), SWYOR-97C0E5, LON-E95502, and LVPL-21AB35. |
