Title
Early medieval drinking horn
Description
English: A complete, copper alloy early medieval (Anglo Saxon) drinking horn terminal.

The terminal is hollow and circular in plan with an internal attachment bar stretching across the diameter of the opening. The terminal tapers slightly from a thick collar at the opening to a narrower collar at the head - the edges of this section are faceted (6 sides, possibly more). The head of the terminal is zoomorphic and in profile, with a pronounced eye and brow, straight protruding snout and four circular perforations along the mouth, probably indicating teeth. The eye is recessed, with a central raised ring for the pupil and a wider surrounding groove, possibly originally holding enamel.
