Description

Egg-ended boiler of 1850, preserved on its original site at Snuff Mills, Bristol.

From the left:

  • Water level gauge (Support bracket and pulley only. Originally there would have been a float inside the boiler, connected by a wire over the pulley to an indicator and counterweight).
  • Lever-arm safety valve
  • Main steam outlet valve
  • Bridge bars over the inspection manhole
