Me dieron de comer en el por-tal. Delante se abría una te-rraza lisa, caliente, apisonadacomo un ejido. Vi entonces la isla de la estrellaroja. Estaba más lejos de lo que ima-giné. Era un peñón rubio, gozoso, ta-llado en el azul, rodeado de espumasde una alegría, de una luminosidad,verdaderamente clásicas. No habíamás vivienda que el faro, todo metá-lico y gris como una cofa, en mediode dos cúpulas de cal: el aljibe y elhorno. —¿Y ahí suceden naufragios? 214 GABRIEL MIRÓ Yo estaba tan contento, que meparece que el viejo me miró conpena. Paraba de comer por escuchar ytragar el viento. Toda la mañana erauna vela azul, hinchada por un levan-te glorioso, y la torre vibraba comouna cuerda de navio. —¡Mírala! — me avisó el torrerotendiendo su mano. Estaba abierta la puerta de mi al-coba, y vi a su mujer lo mismo quese me apareció en mi pesadilla, y, envez de lámpara, tenía todo el hori-zonte del Mediterráneo.
