Within 20 days after the Ninety-sixth Street fire all em-ployees were furnished with a brief printed pamphlet in whichwas outlined in simple language a statement of acceptedprecautions to be observed against dangers from fire. Subse-quently these instructions were supplemented by an indexedpublication entitled, Description of Certain PrecautionsAgainst Fires, in which the subject was treated first in ageneral way and then under the four headings: FireCause, Fire Spread, Fire Extinguishing, and finallyAlarms, Brigades, Etc. These regulations are in the handsof all employees whose duties require their working in and aboutthe buildings of the Metropolitan company. A copy of thispamphlet was printed in the Electric Railway Journal ofAug. 15, 1908. At each property the men have been organ-ized into fire brigades, there being a number of such brigades
