n blocks. In one corner ofthe inclosed portion is a room for washing wagons, and nextto this a drying room for blankets. Both of these rooms haveconcrete floors and drainage systems. Beyond the regularwagon storage area space is reserved for the storage of towerwagons. As these wagons are loaded with copper andmaterials of considerable value, it was thought wise to keepthem by themselves in a place where they can be watched. From the wagon storage area two ramps for the horseslead to the stables, which occupy the second floor of the en-tire area between the office building and the three-storyemergency crew building. Horses and wagons can also betransferred between floors by a 22 by 12 foot electric elevator. To provide sanitary stables of the best type the engineersvisited all of the stables of new design in New York Cityand combined the best features of each with an original planto meet the needs of the situation.
