The stop logs in the sluiceways are raised or loweredby means of an electrically-operated winch which moves The turbines are of the Francis, single-runner, verticaltype of 12,500 horsepower each, and operate at a speed of120 revolutions per minute. They are controlled by thelatest hydraulic-type governors, and in addition are pro-vided with an emergency hand control for use in case ofany failure in the governors. Each turbine is directly con-nected to a 10,600 kilovolt-ampere vertical generator whichdelivers power to the transformers at 12,000 volts.
