In recent week there were 322,083 passengers carried ascom,pared with 314,426 during the corresponding week lastyear. There is a gradual increase of nearly $100 a day inrevenue. Opposes Increased Fares On last years operations the Ottawa Electric Railwayshowed a profit of less than 5 per cent. Major Burpee, says the company is strongly against theidea of raising the nickel fare on the ground that street carriding would liecome to many a burdensome necessity. Improved Financial Position The financial position of the Nova Scotia Tramways &Power Company is reported to have materially improvedduring the last six m.onths, and through steadily increasingearnings and decline in operating expenses the company isworking into a strong position.
