PAMPLONA.—San Lorenzo 2^8 NAVARRA cual estaba situada junto al camino público entre el Burgo dePamplona, Baraniain y Acella, y que esta casa era la iglesia deSan Juan de la Cadena, cerca de la puerta más occidental dePamplona (1). También al ocaso, contigua á la muralla que rodeaba elBurgo y sobre el campo de la Taconera, se levantaba la iglesiaparroquial de San Lorenzo, en el sitio mismo en que la vemoshoy unida con la capilla de San Fermín. Ahí tienes su actualfachada. De seguro no dirías, al primer aspecto de esa portadacorintia, que semejante edificio pudo existir en el siglo xiii; peroobserva bien la estructura de ese hastial, y al punto te hablaránde su antigüedad venerable su carcomido sillarejo, la alta clara-boya circular, tan característica (que por desgracia ha quedadofuera del cono visual del fotógrafo), y un estribo que, inmediatoá un arco cegado, permanece en pié, como un centinela queguarda un campo de batalla sembrado de cadáveres, en el cos-tado de med
