„e™«so^s^^^^^^ qjj^^j comet asters.
It -would seem as if the highest possible perfeition had been attained in these truly grand
Asters. They win enthusiastic admiration fnmi all who see them. The liowers are ol immense
size, often 6 inches across, composed of long, wavy, twisted petals, gracefully formed into loose,
yet densely douhle, halt-globes, resembling some of the finer Japanese Chrysjuithemums. These
='ill\ UWf giant varieties differ from the older, well-known Comet Asters, notouly in bearing greatly larger
^iMaW (lowers, but the petals are longer and broader. The plants are of luxuriant growth, attaining
aliiijihtofl.T inches, each plant bearing from 20 to 30 of these magnilicent flowers ou long
Ktinis, wliich gives them an added value for
cutting for vases. iSpeciil.)

not compete but got a special 1st prize. These Asters

Strikingly beautiful novelties; plants
and liowers of the large comet tyi)e,
healthy and floriferous. The centre of the
flower is a crown of pure white surrounded
by some rich color, making an effective con-
trast. These Asters were awarded a diploma
of lionorliy the French Sricli-ty of Horticulture. (.Seecut.)

COMET, or
"POODLE" Asters.
THKSF; beautiful new Asters are the result of across between the Giant Comet and the
Dwarf Chr.vsanthemuni-flowered Asters. From the former tlie.v have inherited the
elegant form and size and doubleness of flowers, meusuri/ig 4 inches across, wlille from
the latter they get the dwarf, compact habit of growth, which does not exceed eight
inches In height, tlius making them espectall.v valuable for garden be.l8 and borders, as
well as for pot plants. One particularly good point about thesis Asters Istheir earllness
— the liowers open early in July, even before the " (icieen of the Market"; they are, there-
fore, the earliest of all large-tloweriiig Astci-s. (Si-r rut. i

It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.
