Intheir exhibition in the FrenchCourt at the Centennial,there were pieces in designand execution quite worthyof the great master himself,and some of their copiesplaced side by side with theoriginals would deceive evenan expert. The Palissy Plaque illus-trated on page 232 gives anexcellent idea of some ofthe characteristics of theartists manner. Every nat-ural object modeled by himwas copied with remarkableaccuracy both in form andcolor.
